There’s a cool little applet that we use and find very handy. You may well like it too. It’s called Alarm Clock, which is an applet that sits in your notification area and allows you to set alarms:
Yes, I know, your smart phone will do that too, but here’s where this program is different. Alarm Clock, can also run commands! Here on the farm, Besides reminding us to take out the trash etc, we also use it to start jobs like daily backups, Play a tune to wake up in the
morning, even change our camera shots on the goats! Anything you can think of, that can be launched from the terminal, Alarm Clock can do.
Something else we use it for, is running scripts in my office, to upload updated web pages as needed.
To install it, open your Program Manager and search for alarm-clock-appplet
Once installed, you can launch it from your Accessories menu, and start setting up your alarms and tasks you wish to automate!
