Have something you type a lot, that perhaps isn’t that easy to do so from your keyboard? Consider Autokey to fix that fast!
Head over to your Software Manager or Package Manager and do a quick search for Autokey:
Once installed, you’ll find it in the Accessories menu . Launch the program, which will display an A icon in the notification area of your desktop as show. Later, you can choose to not display this icon.
Right click on the icon, and select Show Main Menu to open the Autokey setup window. You will find some sample scripts to play with, as well as a couple of My Phrases examples.
Selecting the Edit – Preferences menu will allow you to have the program launched as you boot up your computer.
How do I use it? Glad you asked! I type the names of my goats 100 times a day when new people show up in chat or twitter. I have the F9 through F12 keys programmed with their names, as well as the degree sign with Centigrade symbols ( °C) for all the times I’m asked what the temperature is!
Obviously the software can do much much more, so install it, and see if it won’t save you some typing too!
